What does "Restoration" do?
Restoration removes physical damage such as scratches, tears, dust spots and fading. The image is sharpened and contrast is improved. The original black-and-white look is preserved.
What does "Colorize only" do?
Colorization adds realistic, historically accurate colors to black-and-white photos — skin tones, clothing and surroundings. Damage is not repaired.
What does "Restoration + colorize" do?
This option repairs damage and adds colors in one operation. Recommended for old, damaged black-and-white photos.
How long does it take?
Each image normally takes 30–90 seconds to process. If you upload multiple images, they are processed two at a time in parallel.
What happens when the images are ready?
When processing is complete, the images appear directly in your browser with a download button for each image. You can also have them sent to your email if you provide your address.
Can I try again if I'm not happy with the result?
Yes. You get one free retry per image. Both versions are saved so you can compare and choose the one you prefer.
What about heavily damaged photos?
The more damaged a photo is, the harder it is for the AI to reconstruct it. Severe damage, holes in the image or extreme fading can give varying results. In some cases the generation may fail — it will take a little longer, and you can use the "Try again" button.
Can the generation fail?
Yes, it can happen — especially with very damaged images or a brief technical issue. If it does, an error message is shown and you can try again. If it fails twice, contact us at post@fotofornyer.no.
Are my images deleted?
Yes. All uploaded and restored images are automatically deleted from our servers after 24 hours. We do not use them for any other purpose.
